Blepharoplasty (eyelid plastic surgery) aims at improving the appearance of the upper and lower eyelids as well as correcting alterations that impair visual or aesthetic functions, such as visual field loss, eyelid drooping, or a sad and tired aspect.

The procedure is usually sought after by people over age 30 and is suitable for people with excess skin, wrinkles, or sagging eyelids.

This procedure corrects drooping eyelids due to muscular ptosis. The surgery eliminates excess skin and the sagging that causes drooping eyelid (pseudoptosis).

It is also possible to eliminate fat pads and wrinkles in both upper and lower eyelids, resulting in a lighter and rejuvenated look.

The procedure lasts around 60-120 minutes and is performed under local anesthesia with sedation. In some cases, general anesthesia may be used.

Plastic surgeon Guilherme Graziosi M.D. explains that the association of other procedures such as a facelift or a rhinoplasty is possible.
